Protecting Your Yes

I am sitting with a warm cup of tea, almost ready to go pick up my daughter. I almost didn’t hit ‘publish’ because I wanted to take some more time with this post, but I want my message of love to get out sooner, rather than later. So, here I go:

There seems to be a growing issue with busy-ness and saying yes to TOO many things in our field. I have been watching this trend for a while and merely sat as an observer. I now sit as someone who is determined to change the trajectory of how we operate as therapists and as healthcare and educational professionals. Aligning myself and finding my true passion has made me that much more determined to show others what is possible and the necessity of inspirational alignment. And inspirational alignment STARTS with protecting your yes.

Protecting your YES means that you are cherishing your best energy for YOURSELF. It means saying YES to yourself and going for a run, meditating for 10 minutes, hopping onto a phone call with a friend, WHATEVER IT IS that aligns you with your best self. And it means saying yes to you first- and aligning- and THEN giving your best self to others.

‘GULP. Say yes to myself?’ It’s 2018 and we are still having this convo about guilt falling on shoulders when we start talking about this. In helping fields, it becomes all about saying YES to everyone else. And trust me- I UNDERSTAND. We are helpers and healers and we enter into our fields to give to others. We are called on to support those we work with and come with our best ideas. But that cup isn’t going to refill itself soooo….

We have a choice here. Really be thoughtful about our yes when we are giving it to others. Really be thoughtful about the yes that we are giving to ourselves. Always be checking the distribution to others vs. us. And know we ALWAYS have the power to say yes again to US.

I would LOVE for you to use the hashtag #protectyouryes to share with me how you are aligning with your best self, and it would make my day to have you join us for our FREE 5 day inspirational alignment challenge starting in January ❀ I promise more great tips, a fun time and OF COURSE an awesome giveaway πŸ˜‰

Cheers to you with my warm cup of tea. May your Friday be smooth and wonderful!Β

This is a powerful, yet simple, mantra to keep in my head. As a working mother, it is difficult -but vital- to protect my yes. That on top of crazy work stress and grad school makes it even more difficult and more important. Thank you for this reminder. ❀️
